Nigeria’s U-20 team, the Flying Eagles, suffered a huge setback against the United States of America at the ongoing 2019 Under-20 World Cup on Monday.

The Eagles were denied the 3-points by the Americans who clearly dominated the game with properly laid out strategies and tactics.

Team Nigeria, on the other hand, was befuddled by the sleight of the American team who were on a class of their own throughout the encounter.

Nigeria Vs United States

Having suffered a 2-1 loss to Ukraine in their opening fixture, the USA team were determined to make the maximum points against Nigeria.

The Tab Ramos lead team usurped control of the game in its early minutes, dictating the pace and controlling the flow of the match.

Their gallant start yielded a goal in the 18th minute via Sebastian Soto stunning header from a corner kick.

Soto continued his assault on the already rattled Nigeria defense, and soon enough found the back of the net again. However, the goal was waved off because the forward was offside.

Nigeria struggled to get back in the game as the half progressed, but a beautiful volley from substitute Aniekeme Okon, reduced the tension on the Nigerian side as possession quickly levelled up.

Into the restart, team USA got another goal via Soto who converted a pass from Hannover teammate Chris Gloster, and brilliantly chipped it over Eagles goalie, Olawale Oremade.

Although the Nigerian team were quick to respond to the goal with several efforts, their attempts were  all unsuccessful until the final whistle.

Next, Nigeria will take on Ukraine on Thursday, May 30, at the Stadion Miejski Bielsko-Biala.
