2019 Elections: Saraki Declares

Not Too Young To Run Movement

“In Nigeria, the #NotTooYoungtoRun campaign has embarked on a mission to address age discrimination in candidacy for the legislative and executive branches, and serves as inspiration for the global campaign.” — nottooyoungtorun.org

The #NotTooYoungToRun Movement supports and advocates for the rights of young people to run for public office, believing that age discrimination hinders democracy and full participation in government. In May 2018, President Muhammadu Buhari signed the Not Too Young To Run bill into law, reducing the age requirement for president from 40 to 30, and for House of Representative and State House of Assembly memberships from age 35 to 30. Also, on the 30th of August, Fela Durotoye, 47 years of age, emerged as he consensus candidate for PACT (Presidential Aspirants Coming Together).
