Nigeria’s U-17 female team, the Flamingoes will take on a fierce Cameroon in February, for a place in next year’s U17 Women’s World Cup in Uruguay. The Flamingoes, who were called to action too quickly without proper preparations, moved into the final games of the playoffs, after they defeated their Ethiopian counterparts in the second leg of their matchup on the away goal rule, following a goalless stalemate in Benin City on Saturday. The first leg ended in a 1-1 tie in Addis Ababa. The U-17 Cameroon women’s team have been on a rampage, after they completely drowned Algeria on their soil 11-0 on aggregates. The first leg played in Algeria ended 4-0 with the Cameroonians taking the upper hand. In the second leg of the game that took place in Yaounde, the Cameroonian ladies left no stones unturned, as they went ahead to demolish the Algerians women’s team with 7 goals to nothing for Algeria on Saturday. The Flamingoes will host the Cameroonians for the first leg of the final playoff on February 2 with the return leg in Cameroon a fortnight later. Ghana and South Africa, also have a fighting chance at qualifying for the 2018 U-17 finals in Uruguay. Featured Image Credit: New Telegraph
