Coming after their heroics for Nigeria so far in the ongoing
2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations, the brilliant trio of
Asisat Oshoala, Onome Ebi and goalkeeper, Tochukwu Oluehi, have been named in CAF’s group stage best 11.
The CAF best 11 is a team of selected players from different countries who put up sensational performances during the group stage of the 2018 AWCON.
Falcon Stars
Oshoala got on the front foot to record a hat-trick against Equatorial Guinea in the team’s last game which they won 6-0.
Ebi has been very instrumental for the Super Falcons in their quest for the 2018 crown. And as team captain, the defender has been one of the Falcons top performers, and deserves her spot on the CAF best 11.
Super Falcons goaltender, Oluehi, has conceded only one goal since the beginning of the tourney, against South Africa, and has kept a clean sheet ever since. Her quick wit has earned her the first choice goalkeeper spot on the CAF list.
Two other Super Falcons, Desire Oparanozie and
Francisca Ordega, made the CAF group stage substitutes list.
Oparanozie scored Nigeria’s first goal of the tournament, and has been an effective forward for the Falcons so far. Ordega has made two assists and scored twice for Nigeria in the competition, bagging the woman of the match award against Zambia which the Falcons defeated 4-0.
Other countries duly represented on the CAF best 11 list include South Africa and Cameroon, who both have three players apiece in the squad. Ghana completes the list with two of its players making the cut.
