₦450,000 In Prizes Available In The Jemila Abubakar Memorial Essay (JAME) Competition For Nigerian Students

  The Asido Foundation has opened entries into the Jemila Abubakar Memorial Essay (JAME) Competition 2021/2022. Intending participants—who must be undergraduate students of tertiary institutions in Nigeria –are invited to submit essays on the topic: Criminalization of Suicide Attempts In Nigeria: To Stay or To Go.

The JAME Competition is organized in honour of Jemila Abubakar, a former Project Manager of the Asido Foundation, who passed on in 2020. Through the contest, the foundation aims to recognize the important work she did pertaining to mental health in Nigeria. The competition will be organized annually, with essays concerning mental health issues. As an organization devoted to mental health advocacy, the Asido Foundation seeks to combat the widespread ignorance about mental health in Nigeria by working with relevant stakeholders and engaging in activities that help to better the mental health of Nigerians. The JAME contest fits in perfectly with these objectives.

Benefits

The following prizes will be given to the writers of the top essays submitted: Besides these, the top fifteen entries will be given awards of excellence.

Applicants should submit a copy of their passport photograph, evidence of their studentship, and evidence that they have taken the unashamed pledge (available on the Asido Foundation’s website).
