The JAME Competition is organized in honour of Jemila Abubakar, a former Project Manager of the Asido Foundation, who passed on in 2020. Through the contest, the foundation aims to recognize the important work she did pertaining to mental health in Nigeria. The competition will be organized annually, with essays concerning mental health issues. As an organization devoted to mental health advocacy, the Asido Foundation seeks to combat the widespread ignorance about mental health in Nigeria by working with relevant stakeholders and engaging in activities that help to better the mental health of Nigerians.
