For twelve years, the New Media Writing Prize has rewarded impressive writers who have made the most of digital media to tell their stories and pass across a powerful message. This year’s competition will be no different. As such, applications from writers across the world are invited. The competition is open to students, professionals, artists, developers, designers, and enthusiasts of the written word who live outside the United Kingdom.
Benefits
Winners will be announced for the following awards:- if:book UK New Media Writing Prize, worth ₤1,000 sponsored by if:book UK.
- The FIPP Digital Journalism Award, a ₤500 award along with membership of the FIPP which will last for a year.
- The Open Up Award, worth ₤500 (the winner will be selected via public voting).
- The Writing Magazine Student Award, a year’s worth of free subscription to the Writing Magazine, or a writing course fashioned to suit the winner’s needs.

Eligibility
Persons who intend to participate in the competition should meet these conditions to be considered for the award:- Entries must be in English
- They should be stories or poems that integrate multiple digital media types and formats
- Non-interactive PDFs or Word documents are not eligible; neither are screenshots of a blog, YouTube videos, or a slideshow of photos uploaded online
- The submitted work should be something that couldn’t work with old media
How To Apply For The Competition
Entries should contain the following:- The title of the work and clear instructions for accessing it via URL, download, or an app access code (depending on the nature of the work and the platform on which it exists).
- Name, email, postal address, and telephone number of the applicant; joint entries should provide all entrant’s contact details, as well as indicate who the main entrant is.
- A short autobiography of between 50 and 100 words; for joint entrants, each team member should provide their autobiography.
- Persons entering the competition as students should provide proof of their studentship; this could be a scanned copy of their Student Union ID card, student enrollment number, or similar ID.
