In the course of my professional career of two decades, I have mentored and reached out to over two million people. I have also had the privilege to share inspiring nuggets in the areas of Sales, Selling and Salesmanship, Customer Service, Leadership and Success Psychology. I achieved this through one-on-one coaching, open training sessions, public speaking and media platforms. Each time I talk to professionals, I tell them they are Products! I also tell them they are selling two products to their prospects or customers whenever they go out for sales activities. They sell themselves and the products they have in their hands. Most of the times I say this, my audience would wish to know the product to sell first; yourself or the product in your hands? The answer is simple: You Sell Yourself first before the Product in your hands! Let’s talk a little Sales Logic because we are all Salespeople. We all sell something in one way or the other. We sell ourselves, our products, our services, our concepts, our perceptions, etc. The first product you should sell when you engage in any sales situation is Yourself. The second one is the Goods or Services you are offering to the buyer. I have said this before. The logic also goes that … the salesperson must try to ‘‘buy a piece of mind’’ of the buyer first before trying to sell his goods or services to him. If the salesperson succeeds in ”buying” the buyer, it becomes easier and faster to sell the product in his hands. You must win the heart of the buyer before trying to sell to him. This logic fits into the picture I am going to paint in this write-up. This sales logic applies in our everyday endeavour because everyone wants to be heard. We all desire to be loved and accepted by the people around us. This is why we want to look attractive all the time. Successful people look like professional sales folks. A professional salesman is an awesome individual. He looks good and acts the best most of the times. He has a winning mindset. He thinks like a champion. Brian Tracy once said, ‘‘if you want to be successful, do what successful people do.’’ Endeavour to appear like the best. Seek to see yourself as the best product if you want to be successful. This is the thinking style of successful people. What are YOU offering to your world this period? Time waits for no one. Always remember the wise old saying, ‘‘Time moves slowly and passes quickly.’’ Are you still waiting or are you going to take the right action now? Are you going to launch out as the best product in the market or will you choose to remain ‘‘just’’ a product in the number? Good products launch out immediately. Inaction doesn’t make champions. If you want to win a fight, you must get inside the ring and knock your opponent down! You must act now! You should think like the best all the time. This is the thinking style of champions. Never undervalue your brand. See yourself as the best brand in the market. You are not what you are. You are always what you think you are. The way you think and act make the difference. Robert H. Schuller puts it this way, ‘‘the only place where your dream becomes impossible is in your own thinking.’’ This can’t be Truer. Our actions follow our thought processes. The way you think is the way you act. You should know this fact and work with it too. If you see yourself as the best, then you are the best. If you see yourself as the weakest, then, that posture becomes your reality! This is the way our world is wired. You determine your story. The popular slogan of the Television Series in the 1980s, Bassey and Company comes to mind at a time like this, ‘‘if you want to be a millionaire, think like a millionaire!’’ Put in the context of this write-up, ‘‘if you want to be the best product, think and act like the best product.’’ You must prove your worth anywhere you are. You must show why you are the best. Every good product maintains a consistent lead in the market. This is so because people follow the leader. A good product doesn’t need many struggles to be sold in the market. The local adage agrees that a good product sells itself. You are not just a product but the best product! This is the mindset of champions. Successful people think positive all the time. They believe they can fly even when they have no wings! You know what? When they continue to believe they can fly, they suddenly develop wings and fly away! As a product, how attractive do you want to look on the ‘‘shelf?’’ How do you want to be noticed when people come to ‘‘buy’’ You? Try to be as conspicuous as possible; as attractive as possible! You attract your Followership. The things you do attract people to you. People follow you when they can feel you. Your way of life also chases folks away from you. If you want to remain relevant in the market as the best product, then endeavour to embrace the best character traits. Men of integrity stand out anywhere and anytime. Hard working people often succeed. It is said that the harder you work, the luckier you get. Live your life to attract the best around you. The Law of attraction talks about Like attracting Like and so on. If you want to be a successful person, do things that will attract successful people. You are the best gift to your world! It’s time to prove your worth. It’s time to unleash your value. The world is waiting to have a feel of you. This is your time to shine! This is the time to wear your ‘‘thinking cap’’ and get to work. You can’t be the best product by just ‘’wishing.’’ You become the best by Doing! Greatness is not attained by imagination only. Prominence is a function of thinking and working. You do the two. You imagine greatness and work it out. You must walk the talk. Attaining greater heights in life is a function of Desire, Action and Faith. These three must be in place in order to succeed. It follows thus: You must have the desire to succeed, followed by working or doing the things required to succeed; then believe you will succeed! You must believe in your dreams. This is the path to Success. This is your time. Take it!
