Of recent, there has been a lot of agitation for the need to have an efficient modern rail transport system in Nigeria, as it will open up doors to a different way to transport millions of Nigerians daily. I’ve never had any reason to use a train in Nigeria. In fact, with what I see in foreign countries and what we currently have here, I don’t want to ever be in one here, but all that is about to change pun intended, duhh. For at least 7 years now, the Lagos State government has been working on implementing rail transport in Lagos state with little to no support from the Federal Government. We do have trains in Nigeria already, but like I said earlier, you don’t want to travel in one. So here’s a quick preview of the current state of rail transport in Lagos state. I’m sure you’re like:
Is this Lagos???
I know right? You’re wondering if this isn’t some sort of mind game, well it’s really happening, and we are finally having modern rail transport in Nigeria that you can be proud of and confident to use, not some locomotive engine causing climate change and disrupting the ozone layer. Not sure where this is made from but it does look like something from the popular Canadian multinational aerospace and transportation company Bomabardier. Its still a work in progress, but this is already awesome work in progress in my opinion.
