Nigerian national women’s football team, Super Falcons, fell to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Canada on Saturday, April 9, 2022, in the first of a two-legged friendly between both nations. Goals from Jessie Fleming in the 50th minute and Vanessa Gilles in the 72nd minute were enough for the North American side to see off the resilient African champions. The second leg will hold on Tuesday, April 12 as the Randy Waldrum led Nigerian side seeks vengeance.

Super Eagles of Nigeria forward Ademola Lookman scored the first goal in Leicester City’s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on Sunday, April 10. Lookman’s 39th-minute strike gave Leicester the confidence to score another through Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in the 45th minute before Palace got a consolation strike in the 66th minute. In Italy, Victor Osimhen’s powerful strike in the 84th minute was not enough as Napoli suffered a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Fiorentina and dropped to third place on the league log.

Eight-time Nigerian league champions Enyimba FC beat Enugu Rangers 2-1 on Sunday, April 10, in Aba, courtesy of a brace from Victor Mbaoma. Rangers took the lead in the 15th minute of the clash through Ossy Martins, but Mbaoma equalized for the hosts in the 32nd minute. The forward will gift Enyimba all three points with a strike in the 68th minute. In Lagos, MFM boasted their relegation survival battle with a 2-0 win over Dakkada. Goals from Oluwaseun Badejo and Oladayo Alabi, were enough for the Olukoya Boys to gain all three points on Sunday.
