Vice Presidential Debate The Vice Presidential debate took place on Friday December 14, 2018. Among the candidates, were Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN), Abdulganiyu Galadima; Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN), Khadijah Abdullahi-Iya; All Progressives Congress (APC), Yemi Osinbajo; Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi and Young Progressives Party (YPP), Umma Getso. Here is how Nigerians reacted to the debate Diamond Bank Acquired By Access Bank Nigerians were thrown into a bit of shock when they learned that Access bank had acquired Diamond bank. It was, however, later revealed that the acquisition of Diamond bank was a gesture by CBN to consolidate the Nigerian banking industry. Logo Benz Ibile crooner Lil kesh and YBNL boss Olamide have teamed up to release a song titled Logo Benz.  The song which was released a few days ago has been facing heavy backlash for its lyrics which appear to glorify ritual killings and  internet fraud. Some fans, however, believe Nigerians are overreacting. Is Revealing Clothing A Cause For Child Abuse? This has been the topic of discussion after a video of three co-hosts discussing child sexual abuse surface online. In the video, child rights advocate Lolo Cynthia can be seen tackling her co-hosts on whether “kids wearing bum shorts” is a valid reason for sexual abuse. While she was against the notion, the two men were in the affirmative. This triggered many celebrities and Nigerians who found statements by the man ridiculous and offensive.

This is one of the most disgusting videos you will see this year. THIS MINDSET is the problem. And the guy said “how is a child not a sexual being?” ARE YOU INSANE?!?!? A 5 or 7 year old child and you have the guts to talk about bum-shorts?!?!?!?! This is the real mindset of way too many men in Nigeria. This is why 1 in 4 of our girl-children have been sexually abused. And some of our boys too. We have a lot of behaviours to un-learn. The idea that it’s not the fault of a sick, twisted, perverted individual who commits the sexual abuse/offense.. but that it’s somehow the fault of the victim because of an outfit. We just engaged with the Mirabelle Center about their treatment of sexual abuse victims. They’ve treated over 4,000 patients (all free) – but get this, their youngest patient was a 3 month old baby girl.. and their oldest was a Grandma in her 70’s!!!!! We have a mindset that must be wiped out entirely. This is not okay. Not sure what tv program this is, but that these 2 men could actually CONFIDENTLY make these statements shows just how terrible some of us think. For the sake of our children and our families… Everyone should speak out against this. Everyone. #HerStoryOurStory #ChildAbuse #endGenderBasedViolence

Hey man. I never called you a paedophile. I did speak up against the MINDSET that you and the other guy spoke from, because quite frankly, it is wrong. What you don’t realize is that just by voicing that “side of the story”, you’re giving some reasoning  to the sick, twisted people in our society. Anytime we talk about sexual harassment, rape, molestation, etc… there’s a tendency for some of our people to automatically want to blame someone other than the person who committed the act. “Oh what was she wearing”.. “oh what was she looking for there”… “oh parents don’t dress your 5 year old in bum shorts” – not saying that you can’t have a debate about parenting choices, but NOT IN THE CONTEXT OF A CONVERSATION ABOUT PAEDOPHILES AND RAPE. How then would we explain the 3 month old infant patient at the Mirabelle center being molested by her father… Or a lady in hijab being raped. Or the almost 80 year old grandma. The outfit of a kid, shld NOT EVEN COME UP in a conversation about rape, paedophiles  and sexual molestation. You understand the power of media – barely giving audience to that thought alone is saying that it’s okay to blame the rape of an infant on what the parent chose to dress em in. Rape is not okay. Period. The molestation of children is not okay. It’s sick, and disgusting and has NOTHING to do with what the child was wearing. I hope you gents understand the point most of us are trying to make. Have your debate about parent’s moral compass any day, just don’t loop it in as a reason why a sick person decided to rape a kid. That has EVERYTHING to do with the oppressor, and nothing to do with the outfit. Thank you for clarifying your stance. I hope we can all move on now. The awareness this has raised has been good for all. Repost from @twitchonyema: I hope @instablog9ja and @giditraffic as well as all major blogs will be fair enough to repost this. I am not a pedophile and I am not giving an excuse for anyone to be. Pedophiles sexualized our children we need to protect them from them by making sure they dress well. I was only given my opinion on a scripted TV show where people take sides in order to draw the attention and engage viewers.

Wow!!! Wow! My good people of Nigeria, these men are making excuses for RAPE? Please explain to me how two grown men would come on air and show stupidity!!! “ something you have to understand about human beings and what they see” really? “How is a child not a sexual being?” We are finished o! I want to believe or rather I believe we have MEN that are not sexually mental cause this is a pure display of madness! So it’s not enough for women now cause from what I’m watching, our children are now not safe. True men should come to our aid for the sake of their daughters or future daughters @ikosakioduwa @bankywellington @timidakolo @oscarinthecity @noble_igwe @officialbk6 and many more. Please help school and renew minds ohhhh. Ehhhhhhhhh this one is disgustingly loud! Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks o! If we have child services in this country, check if they have children o. I fear for their children! Yes sons included. If mummy is bathing your daughter that means it’s over! You are sleeping with her that night. Nigeria come and hear o. Making excuses for rape
