Condiments, also known as seasoning, dressing, flavouring, sauce and so on is a great deal of money-spinning business if you apply the right marketing strategy. Nigerians are always on the lookout for the latest and newest seasonings they can add to spice up their meals.  For small businesses who are into food seasoning production, especially when the big names are dominating the market, the best way to stay afloat, and thrive in the food seasoning industry is to use content marketing. However, new businesses in the food seasoning industry often ask how they can boost their brand, and win the trust of their audience. The answer lies in creating values and creating them consistently. It also lies in creating creative content that can entertain your audience that they find your brand as a go-to space for everything cookery and cuisines. In this article, I show the top 5 most effective content formats for your food seasoning business.
  • How-To
How-To content format is a content style that shows or educates your audience on how to make, prepare, or generally do something. How-To could be a step-by-step instruction or a guide. As a food seasoning brand, you can choose to show your audience how to prepare home-made pasta, how to prepare chicken flavoured shawarma, or how to make a home-made pizza. How-To content could take several formats: it could be step-by-step guidelines prepared in a written form, infographics, or purely video content.
  • Nutritional Value Content
In this information age, people are very sceptical about what they consume. Providing the nutrient value of your seasoning or general food education on your social media pages is pivotal and earn the admiration of your audience. Imagine telling your audience what kind of food to eat when they’re convalescent, pregnant, sick, or when they want to supplement their diet to get a good and healthy look. Telling them the nutritional value of your seasonings (herbs and spices and other sauces) can be a good way to convert leads.
  • Brand Storytelling
The definition of brand storytelling is using narrative techniques to engage with an audience and shape a brand’s identity beyond traditional marketing approaches. According to Marketing Insider, brand Storytelling is “Using a narrative to connect your brand to customers, with a focus on linking what you stand for to the values you share with your customers.” A good story contains characters, setting, conflict, rising action, climax and dénouement. Creating these points allows your audience to easily follow along with a story—and remember it. In contemporary digital marketing, storytelling is content that converts. For example, you can sell a story on how your food seasoning brand was invented; the story could centre around the inspiration behind your brand. Another instance could be how your seasoning boosted the sales of one of your client’s restaurants. Maybe the restaurant owner was recording poor sales until she applied your seasonings to her meals.

  • Advisory Content
The advisory content is more or less educational content that advises people on how to eat healthily, prepare better meals that are suitable for different occasions and events and so on. It is different from nutritional value content. While nutritional value content tells you the nutritional values of each seasoning, advisory content tells you the type of meal to prepare for every condition and event. For instance, types of food to cook for a diabetic patient, a nursing mother, a toddler, or an elder could pass as advisory content. Advisory content can teach an audience 10 types of stews to try out, 4 ways to dress and cook a fish, 100 ways to cook an egg or simply the types of food to prepare on a first date, Christmas, or weddings. This content could be written or made into a video format.
  • Fun Facts
Fun fact is a powerful content format that can keep your audience entertained and educated. Now, what is a fun fact? A fun fact is a tidbit of interesting or entertaining trivia. People often introduce a fun fact, sometimes in the form of witty and biting observations, with the phrase itself, because otherwise, how would you know it was a fun fact. Related words: Did you know? Examples of food fun facts include: “Apples give you more energy than coffee”, “Caesar salad originated from a Mexican city”. Food fun facts can be super-educative. Now read this: “Drinking enough water every day can help you lose weight, helps reduce heart disease and cancer and helps flush toxins out of your body. Keeping your body hydrated can also help reduce cavities and tooth decay. At work, ensure you drink enough water as it will help you stay focused and concentrate on mental tasks.” The above expose is a good food fun fact.
  • Testimonials
Testimonial is a formal statement testifying to someone’s character and qualifications. Testimonials are very important for business brands. With testimonials, you can tell real stories of how your products are solving the problems of your clients. Food seasoning brands can use testimonials in creating content. Sharing on your social media pages the testimonies of customers can boost popularity, build trust and generate leads. Featured image source: Wallet Whisperer
