On the LinkedIn profiles of many people, you would see occupations like writer and author. Sometimes, you will wonder how these people got there. Who knows what they write? Who has read their books? Do their names even exist in this writing space? What about you? Are you a proficient writer with published or unpublished books?

You might be thinking of how you can get your message to the world. Worry no more. Having wondered these same things, I will be sharing tips on how to market your book and make some good money in return.

Know your audience

Before you start anything worthwhile, you need to know the people you will be selling to. Before writing your book, you should know who will read it. What genre will your book be in? And what are the demographics of your readers? It is when you are able to determine this that you will know if you even need to go ahead with writing that book. I mean, what is the point of writing a book when you will end up not having readers?

Write well!

You cannot ask people to buy crap. To sell your book, you should first of all, make it sellable. This point cannot be overemphasized. Ensure that you know your onions on the niche you are writing on. This will make people know that you are an authority in that field, and they will be more willing to buy from you.

Work on packaging

The saying, don’t judge a book by the cover could be limiting sometimes.

What is the essence of writing a world-class book and giving it a halfhearted packaging? Just as you will need to invest in a good copy editor and proofreader to go through the content of your book, you will also need to invest in a good graphics designer to give you a quality book cover. You can even add page designs here and there to make your book more presentable and enjoyable.

Build an online presence

This process demands that you make your book visible to the world. Post it on your social media pages and speak passionately about it. No one can be more passionate about your book than yourself. You can even go a step further to create a landing page for it. It is usually a onepage website that has a Call To Action (CTA) at the end, asking people to make a purchase. If you have a personal website, post it there and make comments.

Create a mailing list with a lead magnet (a free resource) so that you can shoot emails to your prospects to buy the book. Run social media ads to get more people to your funnel.

Sell and get reviews

A step further would be to sell on marketplaces that support ebooks and paperbacks, depending on the category of book you will be selling. You can make use of Amazon, Selar, or any other platform. Just explore your options, and you will find one that suits your book. It will give you a wider audience. Also, try to get reviews from those that have purchased your book. Sieve out the positive reviews and post them across your social media platforms. This will encourage other potential buyers to buy your book.

Done with these steps? Then you’re ready to make considerable progress with selling that book you’ve always wanted to sell.
