‘Stressful’ is one word that describes the life of a mother of very small children and even more for new parents. Coping with everyday activities can sometimes leave you drained and somewhat unsure of yourself, but be rest assured, that you are not alone.  These tips will help reduce stress and make parenting a wonderful experience:
1. Read up on your present situation;
Having children is serious business so take time to read up about it. Some things might not apply to you but you’ll always find useful tips to tide you over.
2. Be prepared;
Having a schedule helps you prepare ahead, so get all the stuff you need before time.
3. Get organized;
I’ve found that it helps to tidy rooms the night before when the kids are asleep especially if you have a house like mine where we are all out in the morning. Also, prepare your menu during the weekend, including what your kids will take to school. You can also establish a regular sleeping time for your kids, 7:30 pm is what we do for ours and it’s been perfect as they are well rested by morning and it leaves you and hubby some romantic time for play.
4. Accept the challenge;
While I agree and know that having children and keeping an organized home and work can be very challenging, it is also a most joyful experience. The stressful times will pass and it will make you stronger.
5. stop and Breath;
I find that it helps me to occasionally stop and try (notice I said try) to count backward. You can also take a break to pray, you’ll find it most refreshing. Just always remember, this one too shall pass.
6. Slow down;
Keep your days simple. Establish routines, create a simple weekly menu, make a list of important tasks daily, spend time with people you love, always go for quality, not quantity. Most of all, remember that God is in control of your life,
7. Keep a gratitude journal;
This helps you see what you should be thankful for daily. It also shows you how you got through some really tough times.
8. Look after yourself;
Do something for yourself every day. Read a book, a magazine or listen to music. Keep in touch with your dreams. Remember you need to be well to take care of your family.
9. Enjoy;
They grow! Give them good memories. After good habits, it’s the next best thing you can do for your kids. Enjoy this season!
