forgiveness     The healing power of forgiveness is a path way for inner peace, love, good health, joy and happiness. If this world was a painting imagine it without forgiveness?  It would be a blurry globe of total chaos. The ability to forgive goes beyond mental and physical it spans in to the spiritual.  The Lord’s Prayer in the book of Matthew (6: 12- 15) says ‘’Father Forgive us for our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.’’ Too many times in life we’ve been betrayed, abused, cheated on, harmed, hurt, abandoned and in some extreme cases maimed. Forgiveness doesn’t always come that easy, especially when the offender is closest to us (friends, family or loved ones).  Pain has the ability to change people depending on the degree or damage, so also does forgiveness. Forgiveness is difficult because it’s hard to let go of the past, however it’s important to forgive and forget.  It takes higher learning and a lions heart to realize every person and circumstance is worthy of forgiveness. Unless we find different ways and channels to forgive, we will be held by our past for as long as we can’t let go. Anger, fear, and pain have the power to hold you down forever. Buddha said something very fascinating about anger and hatred. He said, ‘’holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.’’ Forgiveness is not just an act but also a state of mind that has the ability to transform all that concerns you, to a full state of joy, love, peace and happiness. The power of forgiveness affects the mental, physical and spiritual aspect of one’s life. Without it we carry the burden of our past for the rest of our lives. Ideally, no one was born with negative traits, however circumstances change people. No matter the depth or level of atrocity, everybody deserves to be pardoned and forgiven. In order to forgive you must let go of your anger and any other negative thoughts. The power of forgiveness has the ability to heal and fix both the offender and offended. In the real sense, punishment doesn’t truly fix people, it breaks them. Jack Kornfield (American writer and Author) made us realize that forgiveness is really not about moving past someone’s harmful behavior, but about our own relationship with our past. The power of forgiveness helps one clear out any negative thoughts which can lead to depression. In terms of groups, organizations and social bodies, it helps to reduce conflict. Medically forgiveness is used as a tool for stress management; it also helps to increase your spiritual life. Forgiveness has the power to increase our general well being most especially in terms of health. Other benefits of Forgiveness 1.Having a forgiving heart may lower both emotional and physical pain, according to several medical researchers. 2.Forgiveness, according to research is highly affiliated with blood pressure and its ability to reduce your blood pressure. Letting go of any form of hate and anger, helps lower your blood pressure. 3.Forgiveness is good for the heart literally as its associated with low heart rate and blood pressure. This can bring long-term health benefits for your heart and overall health. 4.Lowers stress levels: According to research findings forgiveness helps lower cortisol levels in the human body. (Cortisol is a steroid hormone, more specifically a glucocorticoid, produced by the zona fasciculata of the adrenal cortex. It is released in response to stress and a low level of blood glucocorticoid) Forgiveness as stated above is good for you psychologically, mentally, socially, etc. The ability to forgive creates a high level of empathy which is good for our relationship with ourselves, others and our creator. Lastly it has the power to restore and make this world a better place. .   .
