Mimi was born on the 10th of August in 1982 into a large family of six in Gboko Local Government, Benue State. She grew up in a good family and had many beautiful childhood memories in Benue State where she grew up. As a child, Mimi has always been fascinated by fashion. When she gained admission into the University of Port Harcourt where she studied Sociology, she started her fashion business. As an undergraduate, anytime Mimi was on holiday, she usually travel abroad. When coming back, Mimi will shop for exotic and fashionable dresses and accessories. Her coursemates get fascinated by the dresses and ask her to buy them for them during the holidays. As a business-oriented lady, Mimi will make a fortune after selling the clothes to them. That was how Medlin Couture was birthed. She started with a suitcase and now she is a fashion mogul.

Medlin Couture is now one of the most sought-after fashion brands in Nigeria, all thanks to Mimi’s resilience and hard work. The brand that started in Port Harcourt in Rivers state is now national and international. When asked how she built her fashion label from scratch to what it is today, she said, “For me, we are just starting. I think God has been on our side. I would say It’s God’s grace. When we started in Port Harcourt years back, the name was just Medlin, and compared to where we are now, that’s our lowest. I think grace just follows us everywhere we go. We moved to Lagos two years ago and it seems we have been here forever. Contrary to people’s belief that the brand is up there, I think we haven’t even started because the picture that I have we haven’t gotten there yet.’ Medlin Boss, as she is fondly called by those in and out of the fashion industry has changed the face of the industry by introducing exquisite and unique designs. “I have always been changing the narratives. I have always come up with something different in the fashion industry and everyone can attest to that. There’s always something that we do differently. That’s what has kept us this far. I have created that niche for myself and I have always wanted to give more. It’s always going to be better. You can’t know it all, but we will keep striving to be better.” She has styled many celebrities like Teddy A, Bam Bam, AY, Funke Akindele, Ini Edo, Tonto Dikeh, etc. In years to come, Mimi plans to make her fashion brand a global one and an international force to reckon with.
