The use of Moringa plant for water treatment for households has been developed by the National Research Institute for Chemical Technology in Zaria. Moringa is a flowering plant, native to India and grown around many parts of the world, it is popularly known as the tree of life, having many healing effects. The announcement for the water treatment technology was made by the Director-General of the Research Institute, Professor Idris Bugaje.
He said, “The Moringa project is another viable project that will enhance the health, water treatment and economic viability of our citizens. The plant is easily accessible, especially in the rural areas. This is why we are coming up with this Moringa technology that is aimed at providing solution to the water problem of the country without difficulties and at much affordable cost.”
