Simisola Bolatito Ogunleye, popularly known and called Simi has released her debut album. The anticipation for the album grew following the release of a single off the album – “Joromi”. The Nigerian singer who is now signed to X3M music came into the spotlight in 2014 after the release of her hit song “tiff” and a follow-up hit single “jamb question” both of which are featured on the album along side another earlier released single “smile for me” as bonus tracks. The album contains 15 tracks in total including 3 bonus tracks. One very noticeable feature of the album is that it has only one artist featured on it – Adekunle Gold on the track titled “Take me back”. It is obvious that Simi wants to show us more of herself musically with the limited number of features and the name of the album. The album has songs produced by Seyi Keys, Sess, Vtek, and Oscar. Also, other musicians worked on the songs alongside for a live feel where required, the likes of renowned guitarist, Fiokee, percussionist, Alaba, Dami on sax and Ayo on bass guitar. Simi obviously does more than just singing, as all songs were written by her and also mixed by her. Vtek also mastered all the tracks on the album. The album has a lot of what we’ve come to love from Simi as it showcases her soulful voice with that hint of afro rhythm to it. The album features calm ballads like “remind me” and also more groovy songs like “o wa n’be”. For a debut album, this is surely a good way to start, and we hope for bigger and better things from her in the future. Simi releases her debut album
