By Oritsegbubemi Peace Pessutrendland.comSome time back when I wrote about shoes for ladies, I got a comment from a male reader asking for something to be done in the aspect of the male gender. So, as a loyal writer, here is a request fulfilled.
A man’s shoes reveal his personality. They reveal whether he takes pride in the little things. If he throws on a nice suit and pairs it with cheap, clunky lace-ups, he’s not what you’d call a detail man. And if he leaves his pricey wingtips scuffed and unpolished, he may not be the closer you’re looking for.
The problem with men’s fashion is that most men view clothes practically rather than aesthetically. For example, harmattan is coming therefore I will buy a parka. Style gets thrown to the wayside. This is most evident when it comes to feet as most men tend to view shoes simply as a tool to get from point A to B. But you’re here, which means you’re different.
You understand that point B may be your workplace or the gym, and that either of these may lead to dinner with that hot lady you talk to by the treadmill, and that—if you’re lucky—you may even get to point, and that every one of these situations requires different footwear (or lack thereof).
Shoes complete your outfit and you ought to have these styles in your closet:
The Sneaker: Casual wear is an important part of every man’s lifestyle. You can’t be in the office all the time, right? And when you’re relaxing on the weekends, chances are you opt for a great pair of jeans and a laidback shirt. When you’re in casual mode, be sure to adorn your feet accordingly by including a stylish sneaker to your shoe collection
The Casual Shoe: Since not every laidback occasion is sneaker-appropriate, you’re going to need a second type of casual shoe. This second footwear option comes in the form of a lace-up shoe with thin leather sole. Today’s casual shoes are sleek, structured and void of any bulk.
The Black Dress Shoe: For those highbrow formal occasions, or for a regular day at work, the black dress shoe is a classic item of footwear to own. There are no exceptions to this rule.
The Brown Dress Shoe: In today’s fashion world, brown is the new black. While black is still a classic color and reserved for ultra-formal occasions, brown has become an acceptable alternative for occasions that are less decorous, yet still proper – like the boardroom.
The Ankle Boot: The ankle boot is an important shoe to add to your collection. It’s a functional piece because you can wear it in varied ways. For instance, you can wear your ankle boot with a business suit or a pair of jeans and it will complement both looks successfully.
If you feel a little lost when it comes to building a functional wardrobe, adding these shoes to your clothing collection will be a very good start for you. Have these types of shoes handy in your closet and you’ll be readily prepared to complete an outfit for any occasion that should arise.
I conclude with the words of my fashion conscious male friend, “You can judge a man by his shoes”.
Learning self-compassion is important because it helps us grow, heal, and feel better about ourselves. Life can be tough, and sometimes we are our own worst critics. We easily forgive others, but when we make mistakes, we judge ourselves too harshly. If you want to be kinder to yourself, here are some simple ways to … Continue reading How to Have Self-Compassion
