  While Nigerians await the decision of the World Trade Organization on who is to become its next Director-General, foremost Nigerian economist and development expert, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, who is in pole position to head the organization had some good news on Tuesday, November 17, 2020, on her Twitter handle as she disclosed that she has another award to her collection, the ‘’2020 International Service Award of the World Affairs Councils of America.’’

The former Nigerian finance minister expressed her delight at winning the award and noted that it is a testament of the fact that the world is interconnected and how relevant it is to be ‘’each other’s keeper.’’

Founded in 1918, the World Affairs Councils of America is notable as America’s largest nonprofit international affairs organization. The organization is fully committed and dedicated to engaging and educating the public on issues that are of global concern. With this, the former managing director of the World Bank who has bagged a number of international appointments in 2020 such as her appointment into the South African Economic Advisory Council by President Cyril Ramaphosa, envoy of the African Union, amongst others, is likely to wrap up the year in glory as the new director-general of the WTO.
