If you hate your work, chances are you’ll hate Mondays.
However, if you love what you do, then the fact that Monday is here again simply means that you can get back to work after a nice weekend break and make a difference as you always do!
So it’s clear that “Monday blues” is a concept that only exists because you’re not doing the work you should be doing, and that’s not Monday’s fault.
More than that, however, I embrace Monday instead of resenting it because it always signals a fresh start for me, a chance to do better than I did last week; an opportunity to succeed where I failed last week.
The new week is like a clean slate to me. Now that I’ve recharged my batteries over the weekend, what can I accomplish? What will I do better? How can I be more fulfilled in life? How can I get closer to being the woman I want to be?
If I overslept too often last week, or didn’t eat enough of the right things, or spent too much money on things I didn’t need, or missed some of my exercise days, Monday says, “Another week is here; get it right.”
By making sure that Monday is a balanced mix of the things I want to do and the things I have to do, I make Monday a miniature model of my life. Some time with God, some time with family, some time with books, great music, and of course, the most important tasks ticked off my work to-do list.
If I start my Monday the right way – by planning it all out on Sunday night – I find that I can dive straight into work early Monday morning and make it, in fact, my most productive day of the week!
By all means enjoy the weekend. And yes, it’s okay to look forward to another weekend coming around. Just don’t let it be as an escape from work. If you hate your job that bad, one of the best things you can do on Monday is schedule time for the activities that move you closer to the work and lifestyle you actually want. This way, something special happens on Monday; something to look forward to that gives you even more to look forward to. Every new Monday presents an opportunity to make your week life something you do not have to escape from.
Monday is what you make of it. I do not resent Mondays. I’m glad for the fresh start.
