Toyin Lawani was born on the 1st of March, 1982 in Lekki, Lagos state. She is the founder and CEO of Tiannah’s Empire, a top fashion brand in Nigeria. Toyin named her fashion brand after her daughter, Tiannah who she hopes to take over the empire when she is of age. Toyin is a celebrity fashion stylist, fashion entrepreneur and interior decorator.

Toyin Lawani is from Ekiti State and she is from a wealthy family. Her grandfather was a commissioner of police, her father was a politician and he worked with General Yabuku Gowon while her mother had a blossoming textile business in the US.

Whilst growing up, Toyin’s father wanted her to be a lawyer as it was a successful profession, while her mother groomed her to be an entrepreneur. However she studied English Language at a prestigious University in Nigeria, University of Lagos.

At age sixteen, when Toyin was still studying in the university, she opened a mini supermarket, boutique and spa. She surprisingly did this at such a tender age.

Aside from getting a bachelor degree in English, she attended Oprah Benson Training Institute. She also studied at Los Angeles Fashion School and obtained a diploma in fashion. She then proceeded to enrol jn training courses at Johnyim Fashion and Beauty Institute, South Korea and Exodus Hair School, India.

After the numerous trainings she acquired, she has over the years, proven to be one of Nigeria’s leading stylist. She has designed outfits for many celebrities like: Banky W, Funke Akindele, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, D’Prince, Keri Hilson, Ciara, Natalie Nunn, Emma Nyra, amongst others. She was the brain behind Adebimpe Oyebade’s wedding outfit.

She has a fashion academy named, Tiannah Styling Fashion Academy. She also owns a beauty product line called Tiannah’s Glow.

Toyin is the brain behind different collections and designs like: Denim Agbada, Dream Collection, The Transformer Collection, Face Collection, Asiko Collection, Ready To Wear Collection and many others.

She has also won a couple of awards such as the City People Entertainment Special Recognition Award and Stylist Of The Year Award in 2015. In 2018, she won the Best Female Fashion Designer Award at the International Achievement Recognition Award (IARA) in London, England. She was presented with the award by the cancer survival victim Gayle Poter.

She was a guest judge of the show, Next Top Designer show held in Lagos which was held in Lagos, and was one of the three main judges on the season II of the same show.

She is the creative director of Exquisite Magazine. Many of Toyin’s designs have been featured in top magazines. She was the first Nigerian fashion designer to simultaneously organize a celebrity and kids runway show in 2016.

In 2020, Toyin gave three young designers a million naira worth of scholarship each at for her fashion school, Tiannah Fashion Academy at the Designer’s Awards Africa 2020.

Now, 40 years old, Toyin is the CEO of numerous businesses. She is a Music Video Director, Skin Care specialist, Salon owner, Proprietor of a Nail, Fashion, Modelling, Beauty and Make-Up school, Owner of a food venture – Amala Dot Com, Owner of a Photo Studio, Author and Reality TV star producing the reality show – ‘Tiannah’s Empire’.
