Genevieve Nnaji’s Lionheart movie is in the news again. This time, online movie streaming platform, Netflix has announced its acquisition of the worldwide rights to the movie.
Netflix announced this on its website on 7th September, a day before its scheduled premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. The implication of this is that the platform will handle the marketing and promotion of the film all over the world
Following the acquisition, Lionheart becomes Netflix’s first original film from Nigeria.

The film is Genevieve Nnaji’s first movie as a director. It was shot in locations in Enugu, South Eastern Nigeria and features an impressive cast, including legendary singer Onyeka Onwenu, veteran actor Pete Edochie, Nkem Owo, Genevieve Nnaji and first time actors Peter Okoye Psquare and rapper Chibuzor Azubuike (Phyno)
