Egbo who was part of the silver-winning 2000 Africa Cup of Nations Super Eagles squad and the 2002 bronze-winning Eagles team, could also become the first African coach to win a European double if Tirana wins the final of the Albania Cup scheduled to hold on August 1, 2020. With this feat, Tirana has now become champions of the Albanian league for the 25th time. It will be recalled that the last time the club won the title was in 2009, but the former Super Eagles goalkeeper has now restored the club to glory as they look set to complete a historic domestic double. Egbo’s achievement with the European side means they have booked their place in the qualification stages of the 2020/2021 UEFA Champions League season.

During his playing days, the 46-year-old Nigerian manager featured 12 times for the Super Eagles and also manned the post for various African and European clubs. Egbo prior his move to Europe featured for Nigerian sides, NITEL Vasco Enugu, NEPA Lagos, and Julius Berger in the Nigeria Premier League before joining South African Premier Soccer League side, Moroka Swallows. He would move further to North Africa where he featured for Egyptian giants, El-Masry in the Egyptian Premier League, before moving to Albania to play for KF Tirana and Bylis Ballsh, in the Albanian Superliga.
