The first step towards transitioning from freelance to a company is to choose a company name. Choose a name that resonates with prospective clients.
  • Register Your Business Name With CAC

The second structure you need to put in place in to register your business name with the corporate affairs commission (CAC). The CAC official filing fee for the registration of business names in Nigeria is N10,000 (Ten Thousand Naira Only). However, where an accredited agent is engaged by the applicant for such registration, the agent will also charge a professional fee for the services to be provided.
  • Open A Business Bank Account

Another structure you need to put in place is to open a business account since freelancing is a digital service. It is advantageous to open a business account with digital banking and FinTech platforms.

  • Write Your Short And Long-term Goals

Having short and long-term goals is another structure to put in place. Determining what you intend to achieve, especially the number of clients you intend to reach within a specific period, and income goals will give you the necessary direction. 
  • Draft A Business Plan

Drafting your business plan no matter how basic. Drafting a business plan is simply having a framework. Your business plan should contain the following in descending order: The overview, executive summary; general company description; the opportunity; industry and market; your strategy; the team; a marketing plan; an operational plan; financial plan, and the appendix.
  • Use “We” Instead Of “I”

One of the biggest secrets to getting ahead is moving from a one-man show to an actual company. Therefore, start learning how to use the word “we” instead of I. This will your business some form of credibility

  • Engage In Proper Bookkeeping

Moving from being a freelancer to being an entrepreneur requires proper bookkeeping. Having a strong bookkeeping culture will help you manage your company’s finance.
  • Have A Strong Online Presence

Transitioning from freelancing into growing a successful company requires creating a website, social media accounts, and custom emails. This gives you a strong base to engage the targeted market with engaging content.
  • Build Your Team
