Lizzie Velasquez was born with a rare disease; no matter what she eats, she can never gain weight. She is also blind in the right eye. All of her life, she has never weighed more than 64 pounds. This may sound like a good thing, especially for people who struggle to lose weight, but when you consider the physical, mental and health challenges that this condition poses to Lizzie, you realise that what seems good to someone may be bad for another. Lizzie gave a talk at TEDxAustinWomen, about how we define ourselves. Do you define yourself by what the society calls you? Or do you define yourself by who you know you are? For everyone who finds themselves bowing to societal pressure to be who they are not, for every bullied person, and for everyone struggling to define themselves, this video is for you. Be inspired by Lizzie Velasquez, to define yourself with only the attributes that YOU choose!   How do you define yourself?   About the author: Amina Salau is a writer and editor running The Illuminated Pen.
