  On Friday 8th of April 2022, Eko Innovation Centre, a prominent Nigerian tech hub, and GDM Group, leading Nigerian marketing, and innovation company will be hosting the maiden edition of Nigeria’s first Marketing and Media Hackathon tagged MarkHack 1.0.

The event will witness the gathering of innovators, entrepreneurs, tech enthusiasts, marketing and media practitioners, Industry thought leaders, policymakers, and marketing and media stakeholders to redefine, transform and pave the future of marketing and media in Nigeria. This Hackathon is an opportunity for people to conceive ideas and provide solutions that can foster innovation and tackle the challenges of marketing and media in Nigeria The 500 individuals that registered to participate in the hackathon will be divided into teams of 5 and required to collaborate for 3 weeks, brainstorming and creating new concepts and innovations based on the event’s eight areas of interest. These areas of interest border on topics in media and marketing such as consumer experience, media consumption, consumer recruitment and interaction, trade and retail engagement, analytics and metrics, events marketing, media monetization, and content creation. Each team will do a presentation on their ideas to a Jury selected based on subjects they are experts in. The best 10 teams with the most realizable and pioneering ideas will participate in another competition at the finale/ Gala night on 18th May for a chance to win from the $20,000 prize pool.

Winning individual prizes are $9000 for first place, $6500 for second place, and  $3500 for Third place. The winning teams will also join an acceleration program with the Eko innovation centre to get their products ready for the market. The acceleration program also comes with up to $50,000 in equity investment and the chance to benefit from the $200000 grand prize. Prominent leaders within the industry leaders have been selected as speakers, mentors, and judges. In all, the event will gather innovators, entrepreneurs, policymakers, Marketing, and Media Professionals, for a time to leverage creativity, technology, and mentorship to create models, fresh new knowledge, ideas, and solutions to foster innovative usage of tech in Marketing and Media. All participants of the MarkHack 1.0 will also be granted free access to Art of Technology 4.0, Lagos, the largest tech conference in Nigeria which connects key stakeholders from the public and private sectors to discuss policies and initiatives that will pave the way for the evolution of a smarter, digital, efficient and competitive Lagos.
