INEC has made public, the dates that Nigerians are expected to troop to the polls and exercise their franchise in 2023.

Ruling Nigerian electoral body, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday, February 28, 2022, published the Notice of Election (Form EC60A) for the 2023 general elections in Nigeria. INEC on Saturday, February 26, 2022, had published a schedule of activities, noting that it will make public the Notice of Election on Monday.

“And in line with the first activity in the Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2023 General Election, the Commission hereby publishes the Notice of Election (Form EC 60A) today, Monday 28th February 2022,
a tweet from INEC said on Monday.

The schedule fixed Tuesday, March 1, 2022, as the date for political parties in the country to commence the collection of forms from INEC. As Nigerians await the much anticipated 2023 general elections, INEC’s schedule disclosed that the presidential and national assembly elections will be conducted on February 25, 2023, less than a year from now, while the gubernatorial and state house of assembly elections will take place on March 11, 2023.

i. Publication of Notice of Election – Monday 28th February 2022.

ii. Conduct of party primaries, including the resolution of disputes arising from them — Monday 4th April 2022 to Friday 3rd June 2022.

iii. Submission of nomination forms to INEC via the online portal for Presidential and National Assembly election – 9.00 am on Friday 10th June 2022 to 6.00 pm on Friday 17th June 2022.

iv. Submission of nomination forms to INEC via the online nomination portal for Governorship and State Assembly elections – 9.00 am on Friday Ist July 2022 to 6.00 pm on Friday 15th July 2022.

v. Commencement of Campaign by political parties for Presidential and National Assembly election – Wednesday 28th September 2022.

vi. Commencement of Campaign by political parties for Governorship and State Assembly elections – Wednesday 12th October 2022.

vii. Last day of the campaign by political parties for Presidential and National Assembly elections — midnight on Thursday 23rd February 2023.

viii. Last day of the campaign by political parties for Governorship and State Assembly elections — midnight on Thursday 9th March 2023.
