Video content is the new oil. Gen Zs and Millennials are no longer so interested in the textual content. Not that they don’t read anymore, but more people will tilt towards consuming video content than text. And since the attention span keeps reducing by the day, people are even more interested in consuming short video content.

A platform that gives this great opportunity is TikTok. People create a variety of content these days on TikTok; from comedy skits to lifestyle videos and everything in between. There is no better time to tap into this creative movement than now, especially with the fact that TikTok gives you a large view of people that are not your followers.  In this article, I will be sharing the ideas I believe will help you make money on TikTok. So, whether you are still thinking of launching a TikTok channel or you are already taking baby steps, you can read on.
  • Create engaging content

This should be the basis for every other thing you will be doing on TikTok. Since people now have a short attention span, it will do you more good to create engaging videos that will leave people in awe. Depending on what your niche is, make it interesting for people to watch. Have good video quality and clean editing. A tip is to start with something catchy, as the first 3-5 seconds will determine if someone will want to watch it or not.

Creating engaging content on its own will not start putting money in your pocket immediately, but it will grow your viewing and following, making brands recognize you and for TikTok to boost your videos.
  • Collaborate with brands

Similar to YouTube collaborations, this is a valid way to earn on TikTok. At this point, some brands might have reached out to you, or you might have even sent proposals to them. Once they see your good content quality and engagement, they will be willing to work with you, depending on your niche and how it relates to the brand. They will pay you to advertise their brands or become an affiliate when you can link it in your bio or TikTok post.  You will then have to come up with short creative videos that can sell a product or service to your audience in one minute. Remember that the shorter and more intriguing, the better for you. Sometimes, instead of payment, a brand might offer you their free product.

As a smart Nigerian, if free items from brands are also your thing, in addition to the payment, you are indirectly getting items for yourself, without pay. In fact, you might even sell the item to get a return, if that is possible.
  • Grow and sell accounts

This is a practice that is not peculiar to TikTok. For instance, people grow IG accounts and sell. Mind you, not for criminal purposes, but to give people social proof, which they may not be able to achieve themselves, which will aid their personal brands and/or businesses. Away from that, as a way of earning on TikTok, you can also devise this strategy. If you are able to grow an account and sell it to a digital creator, you will be making money for yourself, as many will not want to go through the rigour of doing these things themselves. In addition to the above points, you can even sell your own products on TikTok. Have the link to your website or online store in your bio. This way, your audience gets to see what you are into. They are also very likely to buy from you or seek your services. TikTok is a goldmine and having the right information, you are good to go. Featured Image Source: Neil Patel
