Since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, NGOs have suffered so many financial setbacks. Even though their services are needed in such a time as this, they are burdened with the inability to get more volunteers as well as host in-person fundraising events. Owing to the pandemic, fundraising has become challenging for these NGOs who, as we all know, rely on donations for their projects. However, NGOs can now heave a sigh of relief because social media can help them achieve their fundraising goals and grant them enough visibility for their marketing strategies. More than ever before, people are spending time on their digital devices and are directly becoming the audience for engagement. If you work for an NGO or you own one, here are the ways you could take over the opportunities of social media and use them for your own advantage, and to grow your organisation tremendously:
  1. Since social media does a great job of connecting people across the globe, you should consider opening a page on any social media platform.
  2. Posting is free of charge. You only have to create contents that are engaging as well as captivating.
  3. Make sure to acquaint the general public with your organization’s goals and mission statement.
  4. Be sure to use the platform as a tool for reaching out to interested volunteers who are eager to bring in their skillsets for the betterment of your organisation.
  5. Engage existing donors whilst trying to convince new donors to your cause.
  6. Make sure to attach the link to your donors’ page on some of the posts you make.
  7. Engage your audience the more. Make sure there are interactive posts that could spur their interest. Also, make sure to answer their questions and give clarifications when necessary.

There are so many social media platforms available for NGOs. The popular ones include Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, and LinkedIn. With millions of people on these platforms, be sure to record significant changes when you include hashtags to your posts or stream live. As earlier stated, you would have to host interactive question-and-answer sessions on these social media platforms so your audience would be inspired. You could tag other organisations or individuals whom you work with in order to boost your visibility. In addition, reach out to influencers who might be interested in working with you for the success of your NGO.

Social Media Strategies That Could Work For Your Ngo:

  • Regular and continuous posting is the key to successfully building an engaging audience.
  • Your profile on these platforms should include a picture, a brief and concise bio, and your mission statement.
  • Use suitable hashtags that will bring up your posts when people use them.
  • You could use Buffer to schedule your posting.
  • Monitor the analytics of your postings.
  • Endeavour to create and use appealing video and picture content.
  • Work on your phrasing and use mild call-to-action words that can inspire people.
