Today is Nigeria’s 52nd birthday and although the country may not be where we want it to be, continual trials will eventually lead to a better Tomorrow. This day should not remind you of our failures, but give you hope that the future will be brighter because no matter what you think things have been achieved, no matter how small. Our leaders need to use this day to think back on our forefathers who fought for what we have, and fought well and hard. They should not let the work of the ones before them be in vain. Mandela once said: “A nation should not be judged by how it treats its highest citizens, but it’s lowest ones…” When the poorest person in this nation can be comfortable enough with what they have,  they would be closer to satisfaction than hunger; they will be closer to happiness than sadness; they will be closer to laughter than tears. As much as the government have a lot to do when it comes to helping Nigeria grow, we as a people need to show that the country is also our priority and we will do all we can to make sure that it becomes one of the best lands in the world. A great writer (Mark Twain) once said: “Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it.” The Government may not be the best but we as people make up Nigeria and if we are the best, we will produce a better government filled with the best people. God Bless you and God Bless Nigeria.
