Ever felt that force compelling you to sit back and do nothing even when there is a huge amount of work to be done? That is the force of laziness that allows you to become idle when there are activities you should be engaged. When asked to picture a lazy person, the first image that comes to mind is that of a fat, slow individual who refuses to do any work. However, there are thin and smart people too who are as lazy as the proverbial tortoise. Laziness affects us all at one point or the other in our lives and hinders us from reaching required goals and aspirations. The good news is that anyone can overcome it with little determination and discipline, and here are four simple tips that might help.

  1. Have a goal: When you believe in something, you usually work towards it. To give no room for laziness, one needs to have a targeted goal. This will keep you up and doing while having that goal at the back of your mind. What you desire will push you to work harder for it.
  2. Have a competitor: What is the fun of doing things if you do not have someone else competing with you? The main reason we enjoy sports so much is because we do not know who will emerge the winner and this is what keeps us glued to our seats. When you have someone else trying to do the same thing you are doing it keeps you on your toes and you will try to outshine the competitor. This natural instinct will drag get you up whenever you feel like listening to that voice of laziness.
  3. Stop procrastinating: If you want to avoid laziness, then you need to start right now. Not tomorrow, not next week, you need to start combating it right now. Postponing your work will not make it go away, it will only compound it. Avoid procrastination like a plague and you are on your way to being responsible instead of being lazy.
  4. Plan a schedule: If you do the right thing at the right time, it will become simpler for you to have your free time. Plan a step by step schedule that allows adequate time for each activity and then stick to it. This will enable you to do your work at the most convenient time for you without lagging behind.
