Falz has announced a release date for his upcoming body of work, titled “Moral Instruction”. Moral Instruction is targeted towards stirring social consciousness among Nigerians and realigning their perceptions with the aim of restoring the dignity of the nation and its people, perhaps bearing in mind that the elections are only about a month away. The rapper, who has been “shaking tables” lately, hinted at the end of his new video, “Talk”, that the new album will be out on the 15th of January.  Other songs expected on “Moral Instruction” include “Follow Follow”, “Hypocrites”, “Brother’s Keeper” and “After All Said and Done”.

Moral Instruction & Social consciousness

Falz is one of the many Nigerian music acts who has championed the cause of social consciousness lately with his work, following in the footsteps of the Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, famous for his fearlessness at addressing issues that plagued the Nigerian society, which others were afraid to speak up about, and threaded where others would not.

Falz’s upcoming album addresses issues like nepotism, prostitution, corruption, and deceit by politicians, the disparity in the treatment of common thieves in comparison to those who loot public funds, insecurity and more. According to the rapper, on the album’s official website:
“There is a dire need for us to redefine the concept of humanity and morality, there is a pressing need for re-education and re-orientation of the people, for this is the only way we can restore sanity.”

Artiste, lawyer and actor

Folarin Falana, also known as Falz, whose music career started with the music group “School Boys”, is also a lawyer and an actor, with his outspoken human rights activist father being a strong influence in his life and career. He currently has 3 albums and an EP, “Chemistry”, which he did with Simi in 2017. His previous song, “This Is Nigeria” was banned from airplay, after its release in May 2018, and attracted applause and criticisms from different groups and individuals, depending on whether they sympathetic to the ideology behind the song, or felt maligned by its content. We can only wait to see the reaction that greets Falz’s latest work.   Featured image caption: 360nobs.com
