The FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2022 will be held in Costa Rica from August 10 to August 28, 2022.
Nigerian national women’s U-20 side, the Super Falconets, have arrived in Dakar, Senegal for the first leg of their final round of 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers. The Chris Danjuma tutored side arrived in the West African country on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, ahead of their encounter scheduled to hold on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at the Stade Lat-Dior in Thies.
Enroute to the final round of qualifiers, Nigeria scored a total of 18 goals in five games, beating the Central African Republic, Republic of Congo, and Cameroon. The Nigerian girls walloped the Central African Republic 7-0 away, before a 4-0 home win.
Following a 4-0 away win over Congo, the Central Africans refused to come to Nigeria for the second leg tie, before Nigeria beat Cameroon 3-0 in the second leg of their encounter to qualify for the final phase after a 0-0 draw in Douala. For the Senegalese side, a 5-3 penalty win over Mali put them in the final phase of qualifiers with a 1-1 aggregate score after the first and second leg.
Coach Chris Danjuma named regulars such as captain, OluwatosinDemehin, first-choice goalkeeper Monle Oyono, Oluchi Ohaegbulem, Oshobukola Omowumi, Esther Onyenezide, Adoo Yina, Jumoke Alani, and others in the 23-girl squad.
CAF has appointed Togolese official Vincentia Amedome as central referee for the match. Amedome will be assisted by fellow Congolese official, AbraAgbedanou (assistant referee 1), alongside the Mauritanian duo of MariemChedad (assistant referee 2), and AissataAmadou Lam (4th official). Burkinabe, Sabine Marie Isabelle Zoungrana, has also been appointed as match commissioner.
