  The 2025 Open Africa Power Program will select up to 80 African students (minimum 50% women) to join nearly 500 alumni in professional development and leadership training. The program features partnerships with prestigious academic institutions, including the University of Cape Town – Graduate School of Business, the African School of Regulation, Politecnico di Torino, Politecnico di Milano, and SDA Bocconi.

Program Structure

The Open Africa Power Program combines online and residential modules taught by academic and industry experts:

Digital African Module: State of the Art

  • 24-hour digital module scheduled between early June and mid-July 2025
  • Delivered in partnership with UCT and the African School of Regulation
  • Covers electricity sector fundamentals through sustainable development perspectives, with dedicated sessions on energy and gender balance
  • Focus areas include:
    • Networks technology, regulation, and economics
    • Renewables technology, regulation, and economics
    • ICT digitalisation of the electricity industry

Eligibility Requirements

Applications open April 14th, 2025 and close May 16th, 2025. This merit-based competition requires candidates to:
  • Be 24-35 years old as of April 14th, 2025
  • Hold African citizenship
  • Currently reside in Africa or plan to relocate to Africa by the end of 2025
  • Be eligible for travel to Italy (applicants should verify applicable procedures in advance)

Register to attend the CN Business Mixer
  • Have completed a PhD, MBA, or Master’s degree (MSc, LLM, MPP, etc.) by April 16th, 2025
    • Note: Undergraduate students, those with only a Bachelor’s degree, or current Master’s students are not eligible
    • At least one degree must be from an African university
  • Demonstrate competence and interest in an electricity sector career (public or private)
  • Possess English proficiency at CEFR C1 level, verified by official certification or completion of a degree taught entirely in English
  • Show commitment to promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment
