Ekiti is one of the 36 States that constitute the Federal republic of Nigeria and is located in the south-west geopolitical zone. It was made a State on 1st October 1996, out of the old Ondo state with its capital as Ado-Ekiti. The State is endowed with agricultural resources and some of the finest tourist attractions in Nigeria. Notable among them is the Ikogosi Warm Spring. The spring has natural warm and cold water which flows from different sources but meet at a point but still retains its different temperatures. The warm spring has a temperature of up to 70 degrees C at the source and 37 degrees C after meeting the cold spring. The spring is also popular for the belief in its healing powers as an excellent cure for all kinds of skin ailment, hypertension, aches, arthritis, rheumatism and guinea-worm. People who have access to the spring even use it as acid for their car batteries. The Ikogosi warm springs is situated in a dense forest that extends over a hilly landscape. A canopy of tall trees overshadowing the converging pool makes it a great tourist attraction. The state government recently renovated the spring bringing it to an international tourist standard, while maintaining its cultural and natural features. The legendary history behind the origin of the Ikogosi Warm Spring is an interesting tale for tourists. It’s said that the springs were the two wives of a great hunter; One of them was said to be temperamental while the other was quiet. One day, the two wives had a fight and after being rebuked by their husband, the temperamental wife changed to the warm spring while the quiet one turned to the cold spring. The meeting point of the warm and cold springs is a fascinating sight of two streams flowing side by side without mixing up. we guess the two wives are still quarrelling.     Featured Image Credit: Jumia Travels
