Lekki Food Bank is a non-governmental initiative set up by singer Banky W to combat hunger among the less-privileged due to their inability to fend for themselves as a result of the COVID-19 lockdown.

The initiative, which is backed by the Lekki Residents Association, the Nigerian Police Force, and community leaders in the Maruwa Community, has been providing food to the needy in Lagos

Expressing gratitude for the success of the reach out, Banky W took to his Twitter page to post the following:

“Over 8,000 meals served… But just as important as it is to help feed their stomachs, we are educating their minds about washing and sanitizing their hands. The @lekkifoodbank journey hasn’t been easy, but thank God it has been worth it. Thank you to all our donors & volunteers.”

Former presidential aspirant, Fela Durotoye, has also acknowledged the efforts of the Lekki Food Bank in supporting the needy during the lockdown.

“I’ll love to encourage & greatly appreciate the amazing work by @lekkifoodbank for pioneering the project aimed at providing food items, relief materials & eradicating hunger especially during this COVID-19 pandemic.
