One thing everyone is learning from the Corona Virus pandemic is that things we once considered important and urgent are not necessarily so. While many organizations have implored their staff to stay at home and work from home, some have been given a leave. Whether, you are still expected to work or you are on leave, you may have realized that the idea of working from home seems nice and good but in reality getting much work done from home is not as easy as it sounds.

Today, I will sharing with you productivity hacks to help you at this time.

  • Exercise and eat well:

Stocking up your house this season and spending more time at home will create the urge to eat more than usual. While eating healthy should be the goal, take time out to create a meal plan, stock up on healthy foods and fruits that boosts your immune system. Also, exercise has been known to help you keep fit and healthy and also activate your day.

So, while you may not be able to go up and down the stairs at work as a way to keep fit, get exercise done at home with squats, jumping jacks, pushups etc.

  • Dress up for work:

Dress up for work every day and show up, only it will be in your work space. Take your bathe every day, wear clothes that are comfortable at home but make it a bit work-ish like a shirt and slacks. Creating an environment for productivity require deliberate actions that may seem simple but the power is in action.

  • Create a formal space for work:

There is a feeling home gives – rest. At a time like this, it may be a bit difficult to get into the office “feel” and get some work done. So, rather than give up on getting serious work done, why not create an enabling environment to hit your goals and earn your keep. You can create an enabling environment with a simple arrangement of you space, get a table and chair and choose a good spot that is well ventilated but has minimum distraction.

  • Get Productivity apps:

Download productivity apps like Miro, Slack, Calendar and To-Do List to keep you aware of goals for each day and connected to your colleagues or friends. Some of these productivity apps like Dropbox allows you to share information with a group of people and get feedback from each of them on the same document.

  • Keep in touch with your community:

Due to the change in routine, boredom will come knocking. So, rather than cave in and let in negative thoughts that could lead to depression, reach out to your friends and community for support and talks. With social media apps and other productivity apps like zoom, you can keep in touch with your friends in spite of the distance.

Finally, I will add one more, engage yourself with as much challenge as possible to keep you active. Find the balance between work and fun and enjoy the challenges. Some of those flying all over the internet are push-up challenge, book challenge, DIYs, craft etc. See to your hobbies and also relax.

I will leave you with this word by Jim Rohn which you can apply as you deem fit.

If you don’t design your own life plan, chances are you’ll fall into someone else’s plan. And guess what they have planned for you? Not much.”
