ONE, a campaigning and advocacy organization, has called out for entries from anyone with ideas on which African Leaders can implement in to harness the power of girls and create a better future for everyone.
The competition is open to anyone who has a big idea that would help to make girls count and such person would have the opportunity of sharing the idea with African leaders at the African Union Summit in January 2018, to be held in Addis Ababa.
The famous African proverb from Dr. James Emmanuel Kwegyir-Aggrey states, “If you educate a man, you educate an individual, but if you educate a woman, you educate a nation”. It is therefore sad to note that 130 million girls around the world are denied basic education and with 53 million in Africa. It is believed that no child can attain their full potential without an education.
The organization is asking for all 18- 35 years old to share their brilliant ideas on how African leaders can make girls count. Any idea that can answer any or all of the questions raised such as how do we get every girl into school and learning? How do we make sure girls don’t face violence at home, in school and on the street? Also, how does one enable girls to dream of becoming engineers, entrepreneurs and political leaders of tomorrow?
The finalists would be announced on One Platform and would be joining One Team to Addis Ababa. Deadlines for all entries end on the 17th November 2017.
