  Applications are currently invited for the 2025 African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) AI for Science Scholarship Program.

The program is a “stream in AIMS South Africa’s Master’s degree in Mathematical Science, made possible through a partnership with Google DeepMind.” It sits at an exciting intersection of AI and the sciences.

To be considered eligible for the AI for Science program:

  • The applicant should be resident in Africa during the time of application.
  • The applicant must be a citizen of an African country.
  • The applicant should have completed a four-year undergraduate degree program or a three-year undergraduate degree with honours by August 2025 or December 2025 for Southern Africans.
  • The applicant must not have held a previous scholarship to study at an AIMS centre.

Benefit:

The program is fully funded and covers equipment and computation costs for students.

The documents required for application include:

  • Curriculum vitae (CV)
  • A motivation letter of around 500 words
  • Academic transcripts
  • Written mathematics questions (to be found on the application site)
  • Coding problem (to be found on the application site)
