  The Jim Ovia Foundation Scholarship is now accepting applications from Nigerian students. Starting in 1998, the scholarship program, fully funded by Mr. Jim Ovia, has provided full financial support to exceptional Nigerian youth pursuing higher education. Each year, 100 new applicants receive the scholarship, and those who are already beneficiaries can renew their support annually, provided they continue to meet the scholarship’s eligibility requirements.

According to the organizers of this scholarship scheme, Mr. Ovia has invested over ₦100 million in the program, which has benefitted over 1,500 students to date. The Jim Ovia Foundation Scholarship aims to develop a network of future leaders who can compete on a global scale, bring fresh ideas and creativity, and are dedicated to positively impacting their communities.

Scholarship Benefits

The scholarship covers the following expenses:
  • Full tuition fees
  • Accommodation costs
  • Living stipend of ₦150,000

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Jim Ovia Foundation Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
  • Be a Nigerian citizen
  • Be enrolled or about to be enrolled in an accredited tertiary institution in Nigeria
  • Have demonstrated academic excellence and leadership potential
  • Show a commitment to societal contribution and improving the lives of others
The scholarship selection is based on intellectual ability, leadership skills, and a strong desire to make a positive difference in the community.

Required Documents

Applicants must submit the following documents as part of the application process:
  • A valid government-issued ID
  • Passport-sized photograph
  • Official JAMB Certificate
  • Admission letter from your school
  • University acceptance letter
  • UTME result
  • Current academic calendar from your institution (signed and stamped)
  • A signed and stamped copy of your CGPA result (medical students must provide a signed and stamped copy of their most recent exam results, detailing courses, grades, and CGPA conversion)
  • The original recommendation letter from your Head of Department (HOD) should include the current academic level, session, semester, and CGPA. The letter be 4 months at the most)
  • School ID card
  • Original O’ Level certificate (WAEC, NECO, or GCE)
