“Anthony Joshua’s Next Fight Will Be Against A WBO Challenger” – Hearn

Just as many have speculated, Anthony Joshua’s next fight may be against a WBO mandatory challenger. In an interview with Sky Sports, Matchroom promoter, Eddie Hearn, says he believes that Dillian Whyte could be Joshua’s next mandatory challenger. Although Whyte has not been officially acknowledged by the WBO for a title defense bout against Joshua, it wouldn’t come off as a surprise if he is picked for the position during the annual convention at the end of October 2018.

“The WBO is next [mandatory for Joshua], so it’s all down to what the WBO decide. They are going to review it at their convention, which is right at the end of October. “Dillian Whyte is probably the frontrunner right now for the WBO mandatory, and then after that it’s IBF mandatory, which is the winner of Hughie Fury against Pulev. That’s probably not going to come round until the end of 2019.” — Hearn (Sky Sports)

Meanwhile, Hearn seems to have made progress with Deontay Wilder’s side for an undisputed world heavyweight fight for April next year. When asked if the fight will happen, Hearn said negotiations are still ongoing. Nonetheless, offers have been made by both sides and soon enough they’ll be on the same page.
