Nigeria carrier,
Air Peace, has set a new west African record with its purchase of 10 brand new Boeing 737 Max 8 aircrafts valued at $1.17billion.
Earlier this year, Air peace acquired two ex-Emirates Boeing 777s, and with the new acquisitions the airline plans to launch long-haul operations within the next few months.
Speaking on the new additions to their repertoire, Chairman and CEO of Air Peace, Allen Onyema, disclosed that the 737 MAXs will aid the long-planned expansion of the airline’s network to offer more destinations and serve more passengers.
“The fuel efficiency and superior operating economics of the 737 MAX will ensure that the aircraft will play a major role in growing our business in the years to come.”

Senior VP of Commercial Sales and Marketing at Boeing, Ihssane Mounir, who was also present in Lagos, said the deal is a good opportunity for Boeing, as they now further establish the presence of the 737 MAX within Africa.
“Africa is a growing market for commercial airplanes and we are proud that airlines like Air Peace are selecting Boeing aircraft to be part of that growth.
“This order reflects the strong demand that we are seeing for the 737 MAX, as airlines choose the airplane’s superior performance and reliability.”

Apart from national trips, Air peace also operates international flights to Ghana, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Gambia and recently added destinations such as Freetown, Banjul, Dakar, and Monrovia.
