You know personal development is just what it is – personal. Growth has to come from a place of consciousness and intentionality that others cannot give you. While you may be well placed with opportunities and talent, you must have the will to grow and develop yourself for you to experience growth. That being said, last year, I shared with you tech conferences a forward-thinking individual should look out for. One of the conferences I shared with you was the Techpoint Build. Never one to hoard information from you, I am going to share all the information I have so I can contribute to your growth.

Techpoint Build is a 24-hours startup event in West Africa. It features conferences running all through the day, an exhibition that connects startups with other SMEs as well as conferences on business, pitching, and business training. It attracts people from different countries in West Africa as well as investors from different countries. Techpoint Build is the largest conference and exhibition that connects the startup and SME community with all industries. The Techpoint Build event is organized by Techpoint Africa, a technology company that amplifies the best innovations out of Africa through its media, data, events and tech-focused platforms.

Unlike the first two editions of the Techpoint Build, this year’s edition will be a merger of the Techpoint Build and the Techpoint Inspired conference. The conference is open to everyone from students, tech enthusiasts, futurists, startup founders and their teams, ICT practitioners, industry leaders and stakeholders, consumers of technology to investors.

The event highlights include:

  • Pitch Storm: This is the main activity on the startup aspect of the conference. Some of the best West African startups will showcase solutions to some of Africa’s problems in a pitch competition to local and foreign investors. 12 finalists will be battling for $10,000 per-equity prize money.
  • Technology Conference:
  • Exhibition
  • Deal Room
  • Techpoint Build 24 hours Hackathon
  • Techpoint Awards
  • Investor Tour: Foreign investors will be visiting selected startups in Lagos to have a glimpse of the Nigerian startup space.
  • After-hours mixer: Investors, startups and stakeholders in the Nigerian startup space will be hosted in a relaxed evening setting.

I came across this quote by Terry Orlick and it resounded deep with me and I wanted to share it with you. I hope it gets you thinking as it did me.

The heart of human excellence often begins to beat when you discover a pursuit that absorbs you, frees you, challenges you, or gives you a sense of meaning, joy, or passion.”
