A real estate business is all too different from other kinds of businesses. There is a long list of attributes and skills a real estate agent must possess, but for the lack of time and space, I will list 5 key attributes of a successful real estate agent.
  1. Do Away With Instant Result Mentality

As a real estate expert, one of the attitudes you must have is patience, lots of it. It can be exciting when you are starting as a real estate agent, and you are ready to set the world of real estate on fire. Of course, you’ve got your plans up your sleeves, you’re ready to pitch and rake in millions of naira. Nah. It doesn’t pan out that way. It is advisable to find a mentor, belong to a community and find partners across the board. The real estate business is not for the Lilly-livered. Never expect immediate results. In real estate, you build and grow with time. However, never stop pushing, advertising and so on.
  1. Never Waste Time On Things You Can’t Control

One of the traits of a successful real estate agent is that they don’t spend time groping on things they can’t control. You are not going to get every listing you hope for. Sometimes there are terrains you aren’t familiar with, and you might find it difficult to connect to prospects, and might even lose. There are times when prospects might not find you persuasive because properties are assets people critically think about before buying or investing in. Selling a property is not selling a tin of milk. There are situations whereby you might sell a home at an undervalued price against your expectations. Getting the perfect buyer will test your ability to endure. Therefore, rather than stalking a prospective buyer or investor, wasting your time, expand your sales strategies and explore options. Don’t beat yourself over what didn’t work, study the reasons behind it and seek expert advice if you must.

  1. Never Micromanage Your Marketing Strategy

Real estate requires daily marketing using effective marketing options. Marketing is pivotal in real estate. As a real estate agent, you must have a modern website, effective social media presence, a proficient-looking headshot and other top-notch marketing materials, such as fliers and business cards. This will all enable you to make a good first impression with prospective clients.
  1. Embrace Technology

Successful real estate agents embrace technology and even look out for trends. They evolve with the times. For instance, having a drone to do an aerial coverage of a plot of land is the latest trend in the industry. The concept of sharp photos, good video editing, and using modern technology for land measurement, and mapping should be at your fingertips if you must thrive in the real estate industry. Successful real estate agents invest in devices that can enable them grow their business by working smarter, such as CRM (customer relationship management), front-desk software or an appointment centre service.
  1. Quick Response And Quick Viewing

Clients like real estate agents who are proactive. Proactive in the sense that they are ever-ready to show clients a catalogue of available properties and their prices. They can go to the extent of taking their prospective buyers on a tour to inspect the properties. They do this by scheduling appointments for consultation, inspection and so on.
