It is hard enough that most teams have had to transition from working physically to remote working, and the work can begin to have its toll. There is a need for extra effort to make sure people are healthy, maintain good relationships and can carry out their deliverables.

To make this journey as seamless as possible for your remote employees, there is a need to encourage team-building exercises and activities, and here are some of the ways this can happen:
  1. Office Tour Guide

As long as this is comfortable for your team members, one of the ways to introduce some fun is to become personally involved and ask that a tour guide is given by each team member of how their working space currently seems like. Other members can pick a tip or two on how to work efficiently by seeing how their colleagues have managed to utilize their workspace. It should be done in such a way that it puts no pressure on any of the members of the team. You can begin by going first and doing a tour of your workspace as the leader, setting the pace for others to follow. Afterwards, encourage the rest of your team, giving a time notice so they get ready to take the other members on a virtual tour.
  1. Online Quiz

An online quiz could double as a productive exercise, as well as a bonding time for your team. If you are still trying to get your team to ease on to each other, you can get an anonymous online quiz so that they can confidently take the quiz and share the results by themselves eventually.

  1. Virtual Lunch

Since the perks of having physical lunch is no longer attainable, you can introduce virtual lunchtime where you have the opportunity to talk and unwind after a stressful morning, while eating. This might be difficult to execute, but once you project the benefits, it can be easy to build a routine. You can ask a team member to show off culinary skills for the day or week, and pass it until it gets around. Ensure that there are no work calls or work-related topics during lunch, and it is strictly bonding time.
  1. Social Media Group Chats

Most people already have this, so it is time to become more intentional about it. Have unofficial group chats where you and your team members can bond, learn and interact with one another. You can also use it as an avenue to encourage work feedback, so your team feels heard and listened to.
  1. Gift Swap

Exchanging gifts is quite exciting, especially when done anonymously. You do not know what exactly to expect, and it adds to the fun. Encourage your team to share thoughtful gifts and make it a pleasant experience for everyone on the team. You can introduce themed gifts just to help solve the puzzle of uncertainty. Remember the goal is to have fun and get your team members more comfortable with one another. Once you build a great team who care about themselves, the work will be executed so much easier and better. Featured Image Source: Training Industry

  • I’m really loving the theme/design of your site. Do you ever run into any web browser compatibility issues? A small number of my blog visitors have complained about my site not working correctly in Explorer but looks great in Safari. Do you have any suggestions to help fix this problem?

  • Very interesting subject, thanks for posting.
