  Aisha Ahmad Ndanusa is a Nigerian accountant, financial analyst and financial manager. She is currently a Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria since her appointment on 6 October 2017. She replaced Sarah Alade, who retired in March 2017. Prior to her appointment, she was Head Consumer Banking & Investment at Diamond Bank. She was confirmed by the Nigerian Senate on 22 March 2018.

Background and education Aishah was born in Sokoto, Sokoto State but is an indigene of Bida, Niger State, Nigeria on 26 October 1977. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Abuja. Her Master of Business Administration, majoring in finance was obtained from the University of Lagos. She also holds a Master of Science degree in Finance and Management, awarded by the Cranfield School of Management in the United Kingdom. She is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). Career She started out in the private sector as a Group Accountant at “Manstructs Group Nigeria Limited”. She then worked at Z.O. Ososanya & Company. She transferred to First Interstate Bank (Nigeria) Plc., as Executive Assistant, Treasury Group. Later, she worked as head of Retail Banking at Zenith Bank Plc and as Head of Private Banking at NAL Bank Plc, which today trades as Sterling Bank (Nigeria). She has also served as the head of business development at Zenith Capital Limited. Other assignments in the past have included stints at the Bank of New York Mellon in the United Kingdom and at Synesix Financial Limited, also in the United Kingdom. From 2009 until 2014, she served in various capacities at Stanbic IBTC Holdings, including as Head, High Net Worth Individuals. She also served as the chairperson of the executive council of Women in Management, Business and Public Service); a Nigerian non-profit organization where she was part of the establishment in 2001. which focused on addressing issues affecting the interest of women professionals in business, with particular attention on promoting leadership development and building capacities to engender growth.

Professional Details Aisha has professional banking experience which traverses the NAL Bank Plc., Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc. and Zenith Bank Plc. Aishah Ahmad was appointed Deputy Governor at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on the 23rd March 2018. As Deputy Governor in charge of Financial System Stability, she is responsible for leading the effort to promote a sound financial system in Nigeria; one of the principal objects of the Bank as specified within the CBN Act. In this role, Aishah is a member of the Governing Board and Committee of Governors at the CBN and Chairman, Financial Institutions Training Centre (FITC) – a not for profit organization offering training, consulting and research services for the financial services sector. Prior to her appointment at the CBN, Aishah was Executive Director, Retail Banking at Diamond Bank PLC, with over 22 years of experience as a corporate executive and finance expert. Her banking and investment career spans several financial institutions including NAL Bank Plc, Zenith Bank Plc and Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc (a member of Standard Bank Group, SA) amongst others. Aishah’s passion for finance fueled the attainment of several academic and professional qualifications over the years. She is a member of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Association and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) Association. She also holds an M.Sc. in Finance and Management from the Cranfield School of Management, UK, and an MBA (Finance) from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. She obtained her B.Sc. in Accounting from the University of Abuja, Nigeria. Aishah Ahmad is a strong advocate for female and youth empowerment; she volunteers at SOS Children’s Villages, Nigeria and was former Chairperson, Executive Council of Women in Management, Business & Public Service, WIMBIZ (www.wimbiz.org); a leading women-focused NGO in Sub-Saharan Africa. Other considerations Aishah Ahmad is from a Nupe, Muslim family of Bida, and married to Abdullah Ahmad, a retired Brigadier General of the Nigerian Armed Forces, from Bida, Niger State and is a mother of two children.
