It is the first time Wizkid is getting a personal nomination for a Grammy prize, while it is the fifth time Femi Kuti has bagged a nomination for the award. It is also Made Kuti’s first time in the Grammys as he toes the path of his grandfather and father in the music industry.
For the Best Global Music Performance category of the award, last year winner Burna Boy might go home with another Grammy plaque in 2022 after his collaboration with Beninese legendary singer Angelique Kidjo put him on the list.
Femi Kuti’s ‘Pa Pa Pa also earned him a nomination for this category, while Wizkid’s hit single ‘Essence’ which featured another Nigerian, Tems, is also on the list for the Best Global Music Performance category.
