With knowledge of how LinkedIn works and the right tools to use, you’ll be well on your way to gaining influence on LinkedIn. Here are 4 tips to follow to boost your presence on LinkedIn.

Be Consistent But Don’t Post Too Much

Consistency is key on LinkedIn but excessive posting can hurt your presence. Research conducted by Onalytica shows that influencers who post more than 50 times a month on LinkedIn end up with an average of 26 engagements per posts, while those who post between 30-50 times a month-end up with an average of 56 engagements and those who post less than 30 times see even more engagement, on average. The recommended posting frequency on LinkedIn is 2-3 times a week – a minimum of 30 times a month for substantial results.

Don’t Just Share Your Own Content

The 4-1-1 Rule, created by Joe Pulizzi of Content Marketing Institute, is applicable to many social media platforms, including LinkedIn. The rule states that:
‘For every one self-serving post, you should repost one relevant post and, most importantly, share four pieces of relevant content written by others.’

Following this rule helps you maintain the right balance of content your audience wants to see. You won’t just be posting your own content but you would be sharing relevant content such as news, trends, and influencer content.

Use Hashtags

Using hashtags makes it easy for you to be discovered on LinkedIn and differentiates your post from other content. When you use the right hashtags, your posts will always show up when users are searching for a particular topic. The ‘Discover More’ feature under ‘Followed Hashtags’ at the bottom left of your LinkedIn homepage helps you find popular hashtags that are related to the hashtags you follow.

Don’t Be Overly Promotional

While the main purpose of joining LinkedIn is to market yourself, you don’t want to come across as too salesy in your LinkedIn posts. Posting directly about your product will only portray your brand as an opportunistic one only interested in selling to your audience and not providing any value in return. Instead, engage your audience with valuable content. If they like what they’re seeing, they’ll be interested in the product or service you’re offering. Featured Image Source: Forbes
