Like many of its competitors, Chicken Republic is headquartered in Lagos, where it was founded about two decades ago. Today, the company has more than 70 outlets spread over some of Nigeria’s biggest cities—Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Warri, and Ibadan –as well as a presence in Ghana. Chicken Republic is part of a broader group of businesses under Food Concepts, a food production firm founded by Deji Akinyanju in the year 2000. It’s also a franchise, which means that it allows entrepreneurs to set up a branch that takes its name and uses its recipes, in exchange for maintaining some degree of control over that branch. Some of the meals on offer from the Chicken Republic include spiced chicken, grilled chicken, and rotisserie chicken. They are often served along with beverages, fried or jollof rice, salad, chips, and moi moi. Various combinations of these items are served, as customers specify.

Besides these meals, Chicken Republic also makes burgers (zippy burger and chief burger), chicken sandwiches (single or double), pies with chicken or beef fillings, and chicken wraps. Customers may order these items along with a soft drink or an ice cream. Chicken Republic sells meals at all its outlets; most of its customers buy its products from these locations. But purchases can also be made on its website. Online orders may be taken anytime between 8 AM and 7 PM. Deliveries originate from the outlet closest to the person who’s placed the order. This brand makes a point of its being proudly Nigerian. It has a policy of sourcing its raw materials, products, and poultry from local vendors, instead of importing them. The company says that it does this to support the Nigerian economy. Chicken Republic also points to its employment model as a significant contribution to Nigeria’s economic progress. It currently employs over a thousand people, with most of them working at its kitchens and restaurants all over the country. Featured Image Source: Hotels NG
